Kids Corner & KAG Champions
Children’s privacy notice
What we keep, why, and how to delete it — in plain words.
Know and Grow Books (kagbooks.com, Sherlin Benixon, knowandgrowbooks@gmail.com) runs the Kids Corner and KAG Champions for children. We follow the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We do not collect personal information from children
Children are never asked for their real name, email, phone number, address, age, school, photo or voice recording.
- Explorer Names are made only from our own word lists plus a number (for example “Brave Ladybug 27”), so they cannot identify or contact a child.
- There is no chat and no way for children to send messages or post their own words or pictures.
- Voice recordings stay on your device. When a child records a memory verse (“Record yourself”), the recording is kept only in the browser while the page is open and is never sent to us or anyone else. It is saved on the device only if someone taps “Save to my phone”. A grown-up listens and confirms the verse was said by heart — the website never hears it.
What we keep (only if a child joins KAG Champions)
- The Explorer Name, a scrambled (hashed) copy of the 4-number PIN, the group code if one was used, the chosen team (Little or Big Explorers), points and which Kids Corner activities were finished.
- Like every website, our host (Netlify) briefly records technical information such as an internet (IP) address and a login code stored in the browser.
Why we keep it
Only to run the site: to log the explorer in, save their progress so it works on any device, show the scoreboard and give monthly prizes, and to keep the site safe. We do not use it to contact children, build profiles, or show advertising. There are no ads or tracking tools in the Kids Corner, and we never sell or share this information.
What other people can see
Only the Explorer Name and points, on the scoreboard (and only if the explorer chose to be on it). Group leaders can see the Explorer Names and points in their own group.
Prizes
A winner’s grown-up claims the prize by emailing us the prize code from their own email. If a prize needs to be posted, we ask the grown-up (never the child) for a mailing address. We use the email and address only to send the prize, then delete them.
Group leaders
An adult leader who asks for a group code gives us their name, email and group name. We use them only to check the request and email the group code. The request is deleted from our website once it is approved or declined; a copy of the email stays in our Gmail.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
- Explorers who have not played for 12 months are deleted.
- Log in and press Delete me on the KAG Champions page to delete everything straight away, or ask your group leader, or email us.
- Progress that is only on your own device (without KAG Champions) is stored in your browser and never sent to us. Clearing the browser removes it.
Parents’ rights
A parent or guardian may ask to see or delete what we keep about their child, and may ask us to stop keeping it, at any time: knowandgrowbooks@gmail.com.
